Ósk Vilhjálmsdóttir, director, guide
The founder of Wanderlust, Ósk Vilhjálmsdóttir, is a passionate nature lover with over two decades’ experience working as a mountain guide in the highland wilderness of Iceland. Well known among her countrymen and women for her environmental activism, Ósk was nominated in 2009 for the Nordic Council’s Nature and Environment Prize.
Among her many talents Ósk is a long distance runner and artist whose work has been exhibited in galleries across Iceland and Europe. She studied art at the Universität der Künste in Berlin. Ósk is one of the founders of Framtidarlandid/TheFutureIceland, an independent think-tank whose goal is to promote a humane and diverse society in Iceland in harmony with nature and the international community.
Margrét H. Blöndal, guide
Margrét Blöndal is the other half of Wanderlust, as she has been a mountain guide along with Ósk Vilhjálmsdóttir, the founder, since Wanderlust started in 2006. Margrét is a passionate nature lover and talented artist.
In addition to her artistic career she has used her talents to teach children how to observe nature and depict its landscapes in art.
Margrét Blöndal earned a BFA degree in Iceland and a MFA from Rutgers University in the US. Her first art exhibition was held at the Nýlistasafn museum in 1994. Her work has subsequently been exhibited in many countries, including Italy, Chile, Germany, Austria, Ireland and the United States.
